The first priority for this site is to make available to readers some of my pictures from the trip that do not appear in the book. So here for starters are my color pictures.
For interested photographers these were taken on 35mm Kodachrome with a Voightlander camera. This is fortunate because these old Kodachrome slides have retained their color for more than fifty years. As much cannot be said for many old 35mm slides.
Nearly the entire deck space of the North Star is filled with cargo at the beginning of the trip.
