This is the bird's nest or crow' nest, more prosaically " the lookout," at the top of the North Star's main mast. Seamen had better not have problems with heights! I don't recall seeing anyone in the bird's nest, but I clearly enjoyed its esthetic look against a beautiful cloud-filled sky. back
