The ship's ladder is the usual way to board while at sea. At the start of the trip when the ship is low in the water the ladder is almost horizontal and an easy climb. But as cargo is off loaded and the ship rises the ladder become steeper and steeper. Here it is quite steep. When there's a rough sea this can be a dangerous maneuver. Often in such circumstances the cargo slings are used to bring passengers aboard. back |
